Hello Friends!
Well, it’s that time again! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might remember that I participated in a One Room Challenge Makeover this past spring with a bunch of other fabulous bloggers and the host, Linda from Calling It Home. I tackled our Master Bedroom and we were so happy with how it turned out. In case you’re new to my blog, you can check out the final reveal here.
Even though I have so many other exciting projects and ideas on the go, I decided to do the ORC again this time around. I found with our Master Bedroom Makeover, it kept me motivated and held me accountable each week. There were nights we worked way past midnight but it felt so, so good to transform a room in 6 weeks. So here we go again…
This time around, my husband and I are going to tackle our Laundry Room. I was seriously considering skipping the “before” pictures but to keep things real around here, I’ll show you! But please scroll through the pictures super quick!!! They are scary… but I guess that’s why we’re jumping on board and we hope to have some amazing results with this space!
There used to be a rod that hung underneath the shelf but we’ve taken it down already. This is the space where my husband would love to build some lockers for the kids.
These pictures aren’t the greatest but the room is a little on the skinny side so it’s hard to photograph. When you first come in the door you’ll see to the left is a space where the rod used to hang and a shelf is above it. We also have a big closet by our front door to hang coats in so this space just gets used to store a million other little things. And as you can see, it gets very cluttered!
Now for some beautiful inspiration…
I’ve been searching Pinterest for quite some time, looking for inspiration for our laundry room. Most laundry rooms have white, black or grey washer and dryers and I was on the lookout for some red ones. Some days I wish ours were white (just for decorating purposes), but nevertheless, I love this set and we’ll try and decorate with this bold color. One of my favourite bloggers, Aniko from Place of My Taste, organized her laundry room earlier this year and I just love how it turned out! It is a bright and beautiful space and I’ll be aiming for look that’s very similar.

I love these lockers and they’d be perfect for the space before you get to the washer and dryer. I love the idea of having a space for each of our children to hang their coats, backpacks and shoes.
So here is The Plan of what we’d like to accomplish over the next 6 weeks:
1. Get rid of rod and shelf and build lockers.
2. Get baskets for above lockers.
3. Get rid of shelving above washer and dryer and make some brighter, white open shelving.
4. New light fixture.
5. Find some pretty laundry room pictures or printables.
6. Find a rug for in front of washer and dryer.
Thank you so much for coming by and we hope you come check it out our progress each Thursday. It’ll go by very quickly I’m sure and I can’t wait to get started! Have a great week, y’all!!
Our Spring 2014 One Room Challenge …
And while you’re here, be sure to check out a fabulous contest a bunch of my blogging friends and I are doing! Today’s the last day to enter! Good luck!! (Check out a complete list of rules and details on my previous post here!)
Good luck on your ORC! I’m sure your laundry room will turn out amazing! I love your red washer and dryer! I’m still looking for a mini chandelier for my laundry room. My hubby thinks it’s totally ridiculous to put one in the laundry room of all places, but I’m the one who’s always in there, so I should get one, right? Lol!
Thanks Lisa! I have to agree with you… Yes, your laundry room needs a chandy! 😉 We’d love one for ours; will look for something similar or a small chandelier! Thanks for following along!!
Brilliant Kendra! I cannot wait to follow along and see how it all comes together!!!
Thanks Kristi! That room is in dire need of a makeover so it should be fun! 😉 Hope you have a very nice week!
I love the idea of a one room challenge. I can’t wait to see what you do.
Thanks AmieJo! The pressure’s on 😉 Thanks a bunch for coming by!
Hi Kendra!
I can’t wait to see how you transform your laundry room! I remodeled my laundry room last April for the ORC and I have been very pleased with the way it turned out! I was really struggling with clutter myself but thankfully, the changes we made helped tremendously – it’s been six months and I’m still enjoying it! I’ll be following your progress! I’m participating again – this time, I’m doing a basement bedroom makeover!
Best to you! Shelia @ House of Highlands
Thanks Sheila! I’ll have to check out your laundry room for some inspiration! 🙂 This’ll be fun to do it together! I’ll be sure to follow along with you. Thanks for stopping by!
Ooh, I can’t wait to see the end results, I love your inspiration pics! And just remember the more awful the berore pics, the better the after! 😉 At least that’s what I tell myself.
That is so true Ange! It should turn out fabulous then 😉 Thanks a bunch for stopping by and have a great week!
And for what it’s worth, I don’t think they are that bad but I know you do and it’s so hard to post those pics of spaces in our homes that aren’t up to our own standards.
I sooo needed to do the one room challenge this time around but I chickened out because I’m afraid I won’t have time. Honestly, I need a 12 room challenge, but who’s counting :). I have lockers very similar to that in our mud room and I love them!! Can’t wait to see your progress and finished room!!
Lol, Amy! Your home is lovely! I think when you’re a DIYer there are constantly projects that need done! Thanks for following along, friend!
Love your inspiration pics – especially the lockers. You’re going to be so happy with it once it’s done. Good luck. Can’t wait to see how it turns out! Hubs & I are doing the ORC for the first time this round. We’re working on our entry way so I totally get wanting to have an organized place for coats & shoes. Feel free to stop by & follow our progress as well. 🙂
Thanks so much Tash! This will be fun to do together! I’ll be sure to come check your plan out as well! Have a great rest of the week 🙂
Kendra, I love your bedroom from the last challenge so I am super excited to see the results of your laundry room! That is some seriously gorgeous inspiration.
Thanks for the encouragement Sarah 🙂 So glad to have a deadline to get this room finally done! Hope your week is wonderful!
I love your ideas and how well they flow with your existing room. And I have total washer/dryer envy right now… Can not wait til we can get some nice ones in the new place!
Thanks Sydney! We were only in our home 4 months when our washer quit so buying a new set was a “must”. Hope your house hunting is going nicely! Can’t wait till you find one to call home!
I love your inspiration pics. I think your red washer and dryer are going to look great. Good luck from a fellow laundry room ORC-er.
Thank you Julia 🙂 Look forward to checking out your progress as well! Have a great week!
