Sharing how to decorate DIY farmhouse shelves without spending any money on new seasonal decor.
Is your home decorated for spring yet? Or maybe you don’t do much decorating for this season? The other day I drove by a house with a snowman still lit up in their front window but there was no judgement on my part. 😉 You know why? I totally forgot about a wreath that was still hanging from Christmas time but I took it down today!
As much as I love winter, I got an early start on our spring decor this year. It just felt good to brighten up the rooms with tulips and bunnies and everything else that says spring. If you’re looking for a cute spring DIY, I shared these no-sew fabric carrots that you can easily make in an hour. And today I’m excited to join my friend Amber from Follow The Yellow Brick Home for her Hop Into Easter Blog Hop. At the bottom of my post is a tons of spring and Easter inspiration, including home tours and DIY’s and other decor so be sure to check out whatever catches your eye.
I was going to share a spring home tour today but will save that for a later post and share our farmhouse style shelves in our office/piano room. My husband built them and they’re one of my favorite spots to decorate in our home. I often find myself rearranging them, sometimes even weekly 😉
For the top shelf I added this spring Fresh Flower Market printable from Clean & Scentsible. It caught my eye as soon as I saw it and knew it would be the perfect anchor piece for the shelves. Of course I had to add my favorite faux tulip bunches and the galvanized container on the right is from Hobby Lobby. I placed some greenery in it for more spring color.
I had to add a couple of my cute furry friends on the second shelf. On this shelf everything except the green plant was found at thrift stores or yard sales throughout the year. The bunnies still had the regular price underneath and I got them for pennies. I’m always on the look out for vintage books as well because they look great on shelves or even stacked on coffee or end tables. (Be sure to look for seasonal things when you stop at yard sales this summer! It always pays to shop out of season 🙂 )
I also added 1/2 a dozen of these diy speckled eggs that I made a few years back. All you need to make them is some styrofoam eggs, robin egg blue paint, some chocolate brown paint to “speckle” them and that’s it! I just cut an egg carton in half and trimmed it down and used it as my holder and it makes for such a cute little addition to the tray.
I’m so glad you stopped by today, for a peek at some of our spring decor. Now get a refill of coffee or chai tea and enjoy pouring through the rest of these beautiful posts! Have a great week, friends!
