I am super-duper excited to share this project with you today!
I’ve been on the lookout for a coffee table since we moved into our home a few years ago. There were a few specifications… It had to have drawers (storage, storage, storage!), I wanted it two-tiered and it couldn’t be round. So, when my husband asked me what I’d like for my birthday, I immediately answered “a coffee table!” After building our Master Bedroom Headboard, Living Room Fireplace and our Laundry Room Lockers, I knew he could build me a coffee table!
And I’m absolutely thrilled how it turned out! I first saw a similar one on Pinterest and fell in love with the style and all the drawers. The plans are from Ana White.
When it came time to paint the coffee table, my natural instinct was to stain it brown. Good ole’ safe brown! Trust me, there’s nothing wrong with brown but I’ve been trying to incorporate color into our living room and I thought I’d start with this piece! I used Country Chic chalk paint and love how it turned out! I didn’t want anything too, too bold and love how these colors look together! The two colors I chose are Elegance and Simplicity! Check here for lots more colors and even some layered color samples! I loved working with this paint and will definitely be using it for future projects! I’ll be sharing the tutorial of how we painted it hopefully next week!
The beautiful hardware is from D. Lawless Hardware. If you’ve never checked out their site, you must! These antique brass cup pulls were $0.60 each! Usually when a piece of furniture needs 6-8 pieces of hardware, it can really add up! But, I am soo impressed with D. Lawless Hardware and the prices of their products! I love that you label each drawer! There’s my books in one, some kids books in another and some chargers in another! I didn’t take a picture of the other side but there’s actually 3 identical drawers on that side as well! See, what I mean about storage?
I’m so excited to create many vignettes on here, starting with some pretty spring dΓ©cor!!
Have you ever used chalk paint…. or tried Country Chic chalkpaint? I’d love to know in the comments below!
I am so glad you stopped by today! I wouldn’t enjoy blogging half as much if it wasn’t for all my readers and the sweet and encouraging comments you leave! I read every single one and am so glad you take the time to stop by!
Have a lovely week, friends!

I LOVE how your coffee table turned out, Kendra! I have been looking for something similar and you are right, it’s difficult to find. Your hubby did a great job and I love how you painted it …a great way to bring in color outside of accessorizing! A great choice!
Thank you Nancy! I am glad I choose something other than brown π I hope you find one you like… or can get it built. Thanks for stopping by!
Can I steal your husband?! That table is amazing and how awesome that he built it from scratch. I just love, love, LOVE the colors you painted it, too and the little file cabinet type knobs!

Great job! What a special gift. Good for you for asking for exactly what you wanted.
I like that you have drawers on both sides. I have an Ana White plan pinned for a similar coffee table, but reversed (drawers on top and shelf on the bottom). It’s the benchright http://ana-white.com/2012/02/plans/benchright-coffee-table.
How were the plans to work with? Was construction pretty straight-forward?
Thanks Julia! I love the drawers on both sides…. so much storage! I will check out your plan! My husband said the plans couldn’t have been better; but said just to read them through before starting π Good luck! Would love to see it when it’s done!
