Decorating your home for spring doesn’t have to cost a ton of money! I’m sharing some ideas on how to create beautiful vignettes for your home on a budget!
It’s one of my favorite times of the year! Once again I’m joining so many of my amazing (not to mention crazy talented!) blogging friends for a spring blog hop… and such perfect timing, with the first day of spring being today! This blog hop runs all this week and each day has a different theme. Today it’s all about spring vignettes and you can see everyone else that’s sharing at the bottom of my post. Be sure to pop back each day and see recipes, front porches and mantles the rest of the week!
If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time (and if you’re new here, welcome! I’m thrilled you’re here!!) you’ll know that I love decorating on a budget. It’s just second nature for me to see something in a store and the first thought that enters my mind is “how could I make that?” Today is all about showing you my thrift store finds, “shopping my home” and the amazing power of paint. Oh, and a couple of amazing tools that have become staples in our home.

Spring has definitely sprung in our home! (Once you step inside our house, that is… I will be real here and admit my winter wreath and evergreen trees are still on the front porch!) That’s on the list for the weekend π
If you’re on Instagram or Pinterest, I’m sure you’ve seen tiered trays everywhere you look! I’ve had my eye on a couple but there’s now way I’m spending $80 on one. I decided to make my own and I’m absolutely love how it turned out!
A couple years ago when we were helping my parents move I saw my mom had tossed these old, rusty cake pans in the garbage. I quickly rescued them, knowing I’ll find the perfect use for them… one day. π I had also bought some candle holders at a garage sale that have such beautiful detail but were a ugly redish-white color.
And in a matter of minutes, all of these pieces were transformed into beautiful white, thanks to two of the absolute best tools we use over and over in our DIYing around our home. One is our HomeRight small spray shelter and the second one is our paint sprayer. The spray shelter doesn’t take up much room at all and I’ve even set it up in our basement when I needed to paint something quickly. We’ve used the sprayer and our large spray shelter for countless projects around our home like painting our front door and spray painting all our interior doors last year as well.
I bought the two dowel pieces to use for the tray from Michaels and using a 50% coupon I only paid $6 for both. And that was the total for the tray then because I had the paint already and the pans were free.
I’m thinking this tray will get moved around our home a lot. It seems I’m always redecorating, moving things from our farmhouse office shelves to our kitchen island and back to the living room! It certainly keeps things from getting boring!(smile!)
It was so fun finding little pieces of dΓ©cor and placing them on the tray. From little succulent plants to mini eggs and candles, it’s the perfect little spot to display different signs of spring!
These speckled eggs were another simple DIY that I shared a few years ago. I then cut an egg carton in half and placed the eggs inside and added them to my tray.
I added an old book from my collection and a favorite faux Ikea plantsfor a little pop of greenery. I then placed it all on another favorite from Ikea, this white oval tray. Thank you SO much for coming by… it was so fun showing you a couple little spring vignettes! Be sure to stop by my friend Marie-Helene at Kingsbury Brook Farm next… her farmhouse style is so beautiful and inviting!

This looks so good Kendra! I love, love, love the white mixed with the pretty pastels and the pops of green. IKEA plants are always so much fun, right? I have to stop myself from putting too many in my cart hehe. Thanks so much for putting this blog hop together. Hugs, CoCo
I just love that 3 tier stand you made! I have one that I bought at Hobby Lobby on clearance a few years ago and I didn’t realize it’d be so easy to make another! I just got one of those adorable pots from IKEA yesterday when I was there with the kids. π You vignettes are gorgeous! I also love the Spring Time is the Best Time sign!

Absolutely LOVE it all Kendra! The basis of our post was to utilize items we already had on hand too! Loving the thrifty decorating. P.S. My wreath was still on my front door as of last weekend too! π
Your comments made my day, friends! Thanks so much! We must be kindred spirits… I love using thrifted or repurposed items ahead of buying new! p.s. And your wreath situation makes me feel a lot better! π lol!
Everything is so pretty!! I love that you made the tiered tray out re-purposed items. I think it means more and has more personality when you DIY it. There’s just something about being able to say “I did that”. π
