Last week I shared how I want to finally finish our laundry room. The major parts of the room are complete; like building mudroom lockers, paint, flooring and lighting. Now it’s mostly smaller things, except for one thing that has me in a huge predicament 😉
I am so undecided about whether we should install cabinets or open shelves above our washer and dryer. Honestly, I go back and forth. I’ve gone to look at cabinets but then I love the open shelves in our kitchen and I think would just rather install them also in our laundry room (although they’d be a totally different style than our kitchen ones!)
So I thought I’d share some of my favorite laundry rooms with you all and show you what I like about each 🙂
(Please remember, if you want to pin any of these images, to pin from the source that’s listed beneath each picture.)
From what I can tell by this photo, our laundry room is very similar in shape to Susan’s. Our washer and dryer are situated at the very end of a sort of long and narrow room. I love the cabinets in here but I keep wondering if we really need them. We do have a lot of storage in our home and aside from soap and fabric softener, I don’t use any other product. While cabinets are so practical and keep everything out of view, I want to make sure we really need them. I really like the shelf right above the washer and dryer as well!!Cherished Bliss
This is my friend Ashley’s laundry room from her previous house and even though it’s in a tiny space, it’s beautiful! I love the grey cabinets!
And photos like this totally sway me to go the open shelving route… If you know me, you know I love baskets and they’d look so pretty. I also love the shiplap … doesn’t it add the prettiest farmhouse style!?
I had to share Jenny’s laundry room as well because who doesn’t love shiplap?! And those laundry bins and signs are soo pretty!
Another very function and beautiful laundry room from Sara at Twelve On Main! After seeing all these photos of cabinets I’m almost leaning towards that but who knows!?
I’d love to know which you have in your home; cabinets or some open shelves? And which do you prefer?
Thanks so much for stopping by friends and take a peek at everyone else’s progress down below!
I’ve got one shelf in my laundry but, it’s the basic painted white. I’d really love more shelves added in a basic wood! Can’t wait to see your reveal.
I was thinking of adding three and more like a stained wood. I’m so glad you stopped by! Have a great weekend 🙂
Beautiful inspiration photos! I love the look of open shelves and all the possibilities as far as styling. However, I think cabinets are a lot more practical, especially if you’re using that space for storage.
Thanks so much, Linda! I agree with both points you mentioned. I think it’s time for a visit to Home Depot 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!
I love all of your inspiration pics and I know this space is going to be great!
Thanks so much, Sherry! Looking forward to finishing it up!!
yes THANK YOU for this inspiration! We are tackling our laundry room super soon and the one from Thrifty and Chic looks VERY similar to ours so I love that!
So glad these could help, Carmen! And I love that laundry room as well! Good luck redoing yours (let me know when you do it if you think of it!!) I’d love to follow along!
