I’m so excited to share with you all our November challenge…. the great and fabulous wood slice challenge! Twelve of my fabulous blogging friends and I do a monthly challenge where we all take the same item and see where creativity leads us! The past couple of months we’ve done crates and pumpkins if you want to check them out!
I woke up extra early today so that I could sit down in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea and read my friend’s wood slice projects! And I’m telling you, there’re all so great! Please be sure to visit them at the links below and leave them a little comment love!
Now on to mine…
Mine is super simple but I love how it turned out! It has a couple of different purposes and I’m excited to display it on our coffee table amidst a Christmasy vignette. I started off with a wood slice from Michaels. I bought the oval shaped one and with a coupon it was about $10. You can find it here.
The first thing I did was, using a pencil, I drew a line close to the edge of my wood slice. I preferred not to paint all the way to the edges, but if you want, you could take your paint all the way to where the brown begins! It’s totally preference!
I used my trustworthy Frogtape from Home Depot and taped along the edges. I used FolkArt Chalkboard paint and gave the slice 2 coats. I made sure to let the final coat dry overnight before I wrote or set anything on it.
When I was a little girl, I always dreamed of one day owning some Christmas villages! The houses and accessories I’ve collected over the past few years are one of my most treasured dΓ©cor items. I’ve always displayed them up high but this year I want to keep them down low where they can be enjoyed more! This wood slice is the perfect spot to display some of them!
I loved using the slice as a sign as well… I have a few places in mind where I’ll use it this Christmas. I think it would look beautiful on our fireplace mantle or even on the dining room table!
Have you started crafting for Christmas yet? I’d love to check out what you’ve made! Please leave me a comment below and I’ll be sure to visit your blog! Also, we’d love for you to link up any of your projects to our link party, Your Turn To Shine!
Thanks so much for visiting! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and have fun checking out the rest of the wood slice projects below!
