Welcome back to week 3 of the ORC! We are halfway there, friends…. it kinda scares me just typing this!
Week one was the easy exciting week where we shared our room plans, before pictures and inspiration! Week two for us was filled with an expected mishap and now before we know it, it’s week three!
I want to tell you about the bed we decided to go with for this makeover. If you remember week 1, we shared our plans and inspiration boards with you. I love this daybed from Ikea but wasn’t sure if we could DIY her existing one into this style or if we would buy new. While we love DIYing crazy hard stuff such as this and this, we decided to buy the bed from Ikea. We were able to sell our daughter’s old bed which helped with the cost for the new one. It’s even on sale right now if you’d like to buy it here!
I am so happy with this bed! Love the style and especially the wainscot style on the back and sides!
Sorry for the picture overload! It is just too pretty!
Who assembles the furniture in your home? My husband (being the sweetheart that he is!!) always does it in our home … and usually dreads it, except when it’s Ikea stuff! Seriously, he always says it’s a dream to assemble! Great instructions and everything bagged and labeled perfectly! This bed was no different. As you can see, it pulls out to make a king size bed. It is the neatest thing really! The three drawers underneath are seriously huge… perfect for a little girl who loves clothes! They are so big that you could easily use one for toys if it’s for a younger child.
I was also soo happy to see that ugly dated, purple stained glass light fixture go! We were actually able to sell it as well (for as much as this new, pretty one cost!!!) If you can imagine that! Anyone that knows me, knows I love to score a good deal and I’m so happy with this one! It’s just the perfect addition of bling!
It feels so good to cross of a couple more things on our list!
-
Paint walls. Goodbye purple and pink! -
Change light fixture. -
Change door and closet knobs. -
New bed…. whether we diy her current one or get a new one altogether. - New nightstand and
dresser. - Gallery wall.
- Large area rug.
Paint trim.- Organize and declutter.
- Make/sew new bedding.
While it looks like we’ve done a lot, I feel like the harder stuff is yet to come! I realllllly wanted to have my mom make our own duvet cover and shams from material I would buy but I haven’t found what I’m looking for! I love this floral print from Pottery Barn but with the exchange rate and all, it might not fit into our budget! We’ll see what next week brings…
Be sure to check out all the other ORC participants at Calling It Home. There’s some amazing makeovers going on and love following along!
Have a wonderful day everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love that bedding and girly light! So funny, we are planning to buy the same daybed when we move our daughter from crib to big girl bed! It’s so pretty and such a great price! So nice to hear it wasn’t a beast to assemble! I think you’re doing great with the challenge and so happy no more accidents this week! 🙂
Thanks, Samantha! I would defiantly say buy it! I love it better than the captains bed… Much prettier! Thanks for the encouragement, friend!
Gosh Kendra – y’all have completed SO much and the room is coming together beautifully! We know your daughter is going to love her new space! Cheers to a great week!
You ladies make me feel good about what we’ve gotten done…until I look at what’s left! Lol! This is so fun to do together, isn’t it? Have an awesome weekend! xo
We have that same daybed and LOVE it!! It was the first thing we purchased when we moved in and it’s perfect for our office. Those drawers holed a TON of stuff!
So neat, Emily! I think we’ll love it too! Our daughter loves clothes so I think they’ll get filled quickly! Thanks for stopping by, friend!
What a neat bed! I love that it expands into a king too! You really lucked out on that chandy as well! Good job!
Thanks, Lisa! So glad we decided to buy the bed! Hope you’re having a great week! XO
You can’t beat IKEA for kids’ beds, we bought one for the younger boy’s room at last year’s sale, also with drawers under, and it’s been great. That chandy is so pretty, can’t wait to see it all come together!
xo
I totally agree, Andrea! So glad you stopped by, friend! Your comments always make my day! xo
You’re plans are awesome Kendra! I also love that Ikea bed – and I’ve assembled it before! Took an entire afternoon with two people! lol. I hope you find some pretty florals for your space 🙂
Thank you so much, Lindi!! So glad you stopped by, friend! Hope you’re having a great week! xo
Love the new chandelier and bed for your daughters room Kendra! The PB bedding is so pretty too, can’t wait to see if you decide to go with that or something different.
Thank you, Tara! Those are my favorite purchases, too! I love that bedding and my options are running out so I might just have to get it! Thanks for stopping by! xo
