Welcome back to Week 3 of the ORC! It’s hard to believe we are halfway done this challenge!
If you’re just joining us know, check out Week 1 and Week 2 to learn what this challenge is all about!
Considering how incredibly busy this month has been, I’m happy with the progress in our laundry room. This week my husband tackled the shelving behind the washing machine and dryer. If you remember back in Week 1 I shared the plan and the state of the room when we started. Here’s what the shelving looked like..
If you can tell, there are two sections of shelves. My husband removed one and then moved the other one into the middle. The drywall was really a mess behind and beside these shelves. Not sure what the previous owners were up to, but we had to mud the wall quite a bit to patch things up.
We also installed beadboard on the wall behind the washer and dryer. Since the cupboards are in perfect condition we decided to keep them and will repaint them. As you can see in the picture, we’ve sanded them to begin painting them white. I can’t wait to install the shelving and buy some baskets!!
And now, seriously, this is one of the best things ever to be seen in our garage! I am loving how these lockers are coming along and am convinced that my man really is the best ever! I love the beadboard on the backs and I think it’ll tie in perfectly with the beadboard behind the washer and dryer! So, so excited to have these started!
Thanks again for following along on this makeover! Hopefully, this next week will be super productive!
If you want to see the room I tackled in the Spring 2014 One Room Challenge, here is our Master Bedroom. There was lots of hard work involved in this makeover but we are still loving the results. You can see more in Week 4, Week 5 and Week 6.
Hope you are all enjoying some lovely fall weather!

Your bedroom looks great! I bet the laundry room will turn out just as amazing. Our laundry is in a “room” literally the size of the washer and dryer which is part of a pass through hallway between the kitchen and family room. We did hang some wood shelves but the most I’ll really be able to do with the space is hang a light and add some curtains to close it off. It’s fun to see how people fix up laundry rooms that actually have some space to them!
Thanks so much Jessica! I appreciate you following along 🙂 The laundry room reveal is on the blog now! I bet your wood shelves add great storage and look great! Have a wonderful week!
The lockers sure are coming along nicely! I love the bead board and can’t wait to see it all finished!
Thanks Lisa! Can’t wait till it’s all done too! 🙂
Looks great so far, Kendra! Can’t wait to see how the lockers turn out! I should have done this challenge too, our laundry room is DESPERATE for a makeover. We don’t even have cupboards, we have an open (ugly) white wired shelf that goes over our washer and dryer. Hate it! Can’t wait to see how your room comes together! 🙂
Thanks Amanda! I totally know what shelves you mean… I’ve never met anyone that likes them– haha! Thanks soo much for following along, friend!
