Hello friends,
Welcome back to week 2 of our Spring One Room Challenge! I kinda sorta wish we could skip right over this week. The title of my post might’ve caught your eye though and you’re probably wondering what on earth is going on!? If you follow me over on Instagram you’ll understand the reason this week was very unproductive. I’ve really learned to never say never.
It all started with visits to the pet stores when our little ones were wee little toddlers. Visit after visit, our little guy was drawn to the bunnies. A couple of years ago, he started asking for one. Our children are best friends and usually whatever big brother likes or wants, little sister wants as well. So that made two of them begging for a bunny. I dismissed that request each time and always said “if we have a bigger yard one day we might think about it, etc. etc.” Until recently when my husband and I started to consider a little pet for our family and last Friday it became a reality. And thus, the reason we didn’t get some serious stuff of that to-do list. Instead I was roaming the pet stores for some supplies and toys and everything else to make little miss Bunny feel welcome and loved in her new home!
Anyway, last week I shared Week 1 of our Spring One Room Challenge. You can read all about our Farmhouse Style Office Makeover plans and design.
Technically, the upgrades I’m sharing this week weren’t actually done this week. Unfortunately, we got a head-start on the flooring because of crazy major water damage we had in our home a couple of months ago.
I absolutely love the flooring we chose. This vinyl planking is so incredibly easy to keep clean, doesn’t show streaks or water marks and I love the barnwood distressed look. It’s from Mannington Floors and it’s their Country Oak vinyl planking and the color is Saddle. The knots, scrape marks and distressing make this wood look so weathered and worn.
We used to have a very light oak hardwood flooring on our main floor. Then a couple of years ago my husband and refinished them into this beautiful darker color. After being totally overwhelmed with all the flooring choices out there I shared 4 things to consider when choosing the perfect flooring for your home!
This is the view from inside the office looking out. All the white trim you see used to be oak builder’s grade trim but now we’ve replaced it all. I painted all the new trim white but now that it’s hung I still have to fill all the nail holes and give it a final coat of paint. The old door used to have a glass insert with brass trim and this new one makes such a huge difference!
And as always, I love my trust-worthy to-do list! Especially when I get to cross one or two things of!
Paint wallsChange glass colonial doorChange all oak trim to white- Find desk at a thrift or garage sale and redo
- Buy chair and reupholster footstool
- Organize all my craft supplies in a functional (and pretty!) way
- Add a rug
- Change light fixture
- Paint current blinds or buy new ones if budget allows
- Add shiplap
- Redo a buffet we already have and use it to organize

We’re on spring break this next week and the timing couldn’t be better! While I’m excited for some lazy sleep-in mornings, I’m also looking forward to getting some serious things knocked off that to-do list! I know all too well how quickly these weeks slip by and before you know it, it will be May 10th (aka: the big reveal day!!!)
Be sure to take a peek at the amazing line-up of ORCs going on at Calling It Home! I made a list of the ones I’m following their progress and that list keeps getting longer and longer. Seriously, friends, there are SO many amazing room makeovers happening right now!
