An easy and inexpensive way to add some pretty and inspirational décor to any room in your home!
Happy Wednesday friends!
It’s time once again for our #MonthlyDIYChallenge! I love teaming up with a few of my blogging friends the second Wednesday of every month for these challenges. We always have a theme to what we start out with and see what we can all come up with!
This month’s theme is sharpies and I have to admit, I was totally stumped at first. Don’t get me wrong, I have no idea what I’d do without my sharpie pens that I use every single day with my planner, but to create something using sharpies?
As soon as I got thinking seriously though, I came up with the idea of making a sign. You might remember we are currently living in a rental house while our home is under construction, and we are trying our best to make it feel like home without painting the front door, stenciling a lace accent wall or build some floating shelves for the bathrooms. While we’re only renting this place for 3 months, I knew from the beginning that I wanted it to feel like home. I’ve bought candles, a mum plant, a couple of real pumpkins and these cute faux pumpkins I shared a few weeks have all helped make it feel homey. And what other way to add a little bit more warmth than with a DIY sign!
Here’s what I used to make my sign:
- cloth of your choice (mine was cotton that resembles burlap)
- sharpie
- frame
- white paint
My material was fairly thin so it was easy to trace my lettering from underneath it. I used a pencil to trace it and then using my sharpie I colored the letters in.
It wasn’t hard to decide that I wanted to use the word “blessed” for my artwork for this frame. I feel like as hard as these past two months have been, I know without a shadow of a doubt, I am blessed. Especially with all the homes and lives lost in the recent hurricane, I’m thankful I can go to bed at night and know I have my family by my side, a roof over my head and provision for every single need. We celebrated Thanksgiving this past weekend, and I’m thankful I was reminded over and over, that I am, indeed, very blessed!
And now here’s what my talented friends created using sharpies!
I also thought I’d share some of my favorite DIY challenges that we’ve done from the past…
Wood Slices | Crates |Stencils | Clear Ornaments
